Julia “JJ” Elliott

Captain Julia (JJ) Elliott has proudly served the Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department since 2018, where she currently holds leadership roles as Captain, Trustee, and Training Officer. Known for her energy, dedication, and passion for teaching, JJ has become a driving force in developing and supporting the department’s EMS providers and volunteers.

With a strong background in emergency medical services and years of experience as an EMT and Attendant in Charge, JJ brings both operational knowledge and clinical insight to everything she does. She is deeply committed to mentorship and believes that great patient care starts with well-trained, confident providers.

As Training Officer, JJ leads recruit school, coordinates continuing education, and develops hands-on training programs designed to prepare members for the realities of emergency response. She takes pride in creating engaging, practical training that builds skills, strengthens teamwork, and helps volunteers grow into capable and compassionate responders.

In her role as a Trustee, JJ contributes to the long-term vision and leadership of the department, helping guide decisions that support the continued growth and sustainability of the Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department.

As a Captain, JJ works closely with members at every stage of their journey—supporting new recruits, mentoring experienced providers, and helping maintain a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and service to the community.

Outside of the firehouse, JJ continues her dedication to caring for others as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where she supports mothers and newborns during some of life’s most meaningful moments. Her combined experience in emergency medicine and nursing gives her a unique perspective on patient care that bridges both prehospital and hospital settings.

JJ is proud to serve the Falls Church community and is passionate about education, mentorship, and building a strong, compassionate EMS system that supports both providers and the patients they serve.
